Method of spinning lupfersilk.
In the known methods of spinning copper silk, it has always been of particular importance to carry out the spinning of the thread in deaerated water, i. H. in water that was free from dissolved gases.
The remarkable observation has now been made that n an achieved far better results in spinning copper silk if Iran spinning in precipitants containing free carbon dioxide. Spinning in carbonated precipitants is already known; so will
EMI1.1
and the inventor of the German patent 286297 also uses precipitation baths that contain copper or alkali carbonates. The threads which are precipitated with such baths containing neutral carbonic acid salts, however, lack all the important advantages which precisely characterize the process according to the invention.
In addition to avoiding the strong spinning disturbances that always occur with other dissolved gases, the use of precipitating agents containing free carbonic acid succeeds in considerably increasing the tensile strength and elongation of the silk treated in this way and, moreover, the copper deposits on the walls of the spinning funnel that always occur during prolonged spinning largely to prevent.
Example: A copper oxide ammonia cellulose solution is precipitated in a spinning vessel of the usual type using the draw spinning process with water of about 320, which contains about 10-20 mg of free carbonic acid per liter. Water of low hardness can also be used for this spinning process. The further processing of the precipitated thread then takes place according to the methods known in the art.
