Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The invention relates to a foam or latex existing inner core of a padding for seating and / or reclining furniture.

Such inner cores for upholstery, z. B. "foam mattresses" have many advantages, in particular, they are easier than spring cores and also easier to handle than spring cores.

A disadvantage is their often unsatisfactory dimensional stability.

The invention has set itself the goal of creating an inner core of the type mentioned, which has a much higher dimensional stability than known inner cores. This is achieved in that attached to the edges of at least one surface stiffening bands, preferably glued. Numerous experiments have shown that this stiffening bands applied an enormous increase in the dimensional stability of the inner core is achieved.

In one embodiment of the invention, the inner core has incisions parallel to one another on both surfaces both in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction, the incisions of one surface extending between the incisions of the other surface and the incisions of both surfaces overlapping one another. In such a trained inner core openings are created by the traversing incisions that ensure adequate ventilation or ventilation of the inner core.

In the following, the invention will be described in more detail with reference to two exemplary embodiments illustrated in the drawings, without being limited to these examples. 1 shows an inventive inner core with partially removed cover plates and Fig. 2 shows another embodiment of an inventive inner core.

According to FIG. 1, an inner core 1 consists of longitudinal webs 2, 3 and transverse webs 4, 5. All longitudinal webs 2,3 and transverse webs 4,5 have a wave-like shape. The longitudinal webs 2 are rotated 180 relative to the longitudinal webs 3 and the transverse webs 4 are rotated relative to the transverse webs 5 by 180.

The longitudinal webs 2, 3 are toothed with the transverse webs 4, 5 (and vice versa), so that the shape of the inner core 1 shown in FIG. 1 results.

At least on the edges of a surface of the inner core 1 stiffening tapes are glued, in Fig. 1, the stiffening bands 6,7 and 8 are visible. By this stiffening a high dimensional stability of the inner core 1 is achieved.

The stiffening bands can be made of different materials, be it plastic or metal. In a preferred embodiment, they may be polypropylene.

Upper and lower cover plates 9 and side cover strips 10 (of which only a part is drawn in FIG. 1) encase the inner core 1.

According to FIG. 2, an inner core 11 has a surface 12 and a surface 13. The surface 12 is provided with longitudinally extending cuts 14 and with transverse cuts 15.

The surface 13 has longitudinally extending cuts 16 and transversely extending cuts 17. The cuts 14 and 15 of the surface 12 extend over the center plane 18 of the thickness of the inner core 11 down and the cuts 16 and 17 extend over the median plane 18 of the thickness of the inner core 11 upwards.

In this case, the incisions 14 and 15 respectively between the cuts 16 and 17, and vice versa, arranged.

Cover plates 19 cover the inner core 11 upwards or downwards.

On the surfaces 12 and 13, but in particular on the surface 12, stiffening strips 21, 22 and 23 are glued, which cause the cohesion of the parts of the inner core 11. Of course, there is also on the according to the cover plate 19 not visible side of the inner core 11 also a stiffening band. The stiffening bands can also be made of different materials in this embodiment.
