Abstract

A wheel sensor acts as a single sensor to detect direction of travel. A first coil (1) (FC) generates a magnetic field (MF) as flux passes. Shaped as a figure-eight, a second coil (2) of equal area is axially aligned to the FC to produce two MFs in an opposite direction as flux passes and to evaluate the course of time for voltages (U1,U2) induced in both coils during a change in MF.
