Abstract

The rods are introduced into the hopper (5) by the reverser (11) which is capable of supporting the contents of a package of rods. The conveyor belt (23) is controlled by the motor M5 which reacts to signals from the detector D10. If the detector D3 detects that the shaft (19) is completely full, it sends a command to one of the motors M3 or M4 which move one of the conveyor belts (13) or (14), as well as the mobile wall (18) mounted on this belt. Thus, the volume of the storage compartments increases and the excess rods can be stored provisionally in these compartments. Detectors D4 to D9 register the position of the mobile walls and send commands to the motors M3 and M4 which are capable of turning in one direction or the other. The motor M1 of the reverser is operated by a preparation command and by the signal from the detector D1 indicating that the accumulation of the rods in the hopper (5) is reaching the lowest permitted level.
