Abstract

The invention relates to the consolidation of terrain, on the surface of which a partial air vacuum is established in a layer (14) of permeable material surmounted by a sealing membrane (15), and in which a network of drains (13) is installed. According to the invention, each drain is equipped with a hollow pipe (19) connected to an external water-discharge means (18), such as a suction pump, which is controlled so as to discharge onto the surface from the drains the water which has accumulated there.
