Abstract

A safety binding for snowboards is to be provided, in which both ski boots are released synchronously in the event of a fall or of excessive loading acting on one or both legs of the snowboarder. For this purpose, a sole plate (2, 2'), fitted with releasable attachment devices for the ski boot, is provided for each of the ski boots. Said sole plate has catch recesses (3, 4) at any desired point on the opposite narrow sides, in which catch recesses there engages, on the one hand, a catch projection (5) which is movably or rigidly connected to the board (1), and, on the other hand, a catch projection (8) which is provided on a movable arm (9). Both catch projections (8) provided on the movable arms (9) are coupled to one another via a spring-loaded device (20) and, in the activated position, the spring-loaded device (20) holds the catch projections (8) provided on the movable arms (9) in the engagement position with the catch recess (4). When one of the catch projections (8) is disengaged, the other catch projection is advantageously released simultaneously by this ski binding so that both ski boots are released simultaneously. <IMAGE>
