Abstract

A substantially inorganic fibrous sheet material and a method and a filler for the production thereof are disclosed. The sheet material comprises (a) cationic inorganic fibres, (b) a cationic inorganic filler including a mixture of talc and soapstone, (c) an anionic binder including an anionic polyelectrolyte and, optionally, cellulose fibres, and (d) strength-improving additives including thermoplastic polymer particles. To produce the sheet material, a stock is formed of the above-mentioned components, the stock charge being adjusted such that a substantially charge-neutral system is obtained, and the stock being formed into a sheet. The filler consists of a mixture of talc and soapstone.
