Abstract

In the firing chamber (1) of the combustion installation, there is arranged a firing grate (2) divided into grate zones (I, II, III) formed with rows of grate bars (10). The rows of grate bars (10) of the first grate zone (I) have no air outlet into the firing chamber (1). The primary air (15) brought in under these rows of grate bars (10) by guide plates (17) serves to cool the rows of grate bars (10) and is then guided by guide plates (18) into a connecting duct (19), by means of which the heated primary air (15) can be supplied to the following grate zones (II, III etc.). It is thus made possible to avoid a concentration of the burning off of unit waste with above- average calorific value in the region of the first grate zone (I). At the same time, uniform burning off is thus achieved over the entire grate surface. <IMAGE>
