Abstract

"CENTELHADOR DE PICO DE CORRENTE". Um centelhador apresentando resistência e indutância muito baixas e tendo múltiplos eletrodos negativos de descarga lateral e empregando um capacitor integral se estendendo do corpo do tampão para a área do conector para o sistema de ignição, para absorver, efetivamente, a energia elétrica normalmente perdida durante o tempo de transição do transformador de ignição, para armazenar essa energia elétrica, e descarregar a energia elétrica pelo afastamento das pontas da vela durante os primeiros poucos nanossegundos do evento de formação de centelha. O corpo do centelhador é compreendido de ferro ou aço construído de modo a ser rosqueado em um furo de centelhador convencional. O corpo tem uma extensão cilíndrica que serve como a placa negativa do elemento capacitivo. O eletrodo forma a parte interna do centelhador. Uma extremidade do eletrodo positivo forma um canal de centelha com dois ou mais eletrodos negativos em um plano perpendicular ao movimento do pistão. A outra extremidade do eletrodo positivo se conecta por meio de um elemento resistivo a um cabo de ignição de alva voltagem de projeto convencional. O eletrodo positivo também serve como a placa positiva do elemento capacitivo e é cilíndrico, estendendo-se centralmente pelo corpo e dentro da placa negativa do elemento capacitivo. Um material dielétrico moldável enche completamente o espaço entre as placas positivas e negativas do elemento capacitivo pelo comprimento do centelhador, e também pode servir como o isolante externo do centelhador, se desejado. Uma modalidade alternativa oferecendo dois conjuntos de placas capacitivas opostas também é descrita.
