Abstract

L'invention concerne une masse d'alliage métallique pour formage à l'état semisolide présentant, après avoir été refroidie à l'air ambiant à partir d'une température correspondant à un taux de fraction liquide compris entre 30 et 70 %, jusqu'à la température ambiante, un taux de porosité, mesuré par analyse d'image, compris entre 2 et 20 %, et de préférence entre 3 et 8 %. Elle concerne également une masse d'alliage métallique destinée au formage à l'état semi-solide coulée à partir d'un métal liquide dont le niveau de gazage, mesuré par l'essai de solidification sous 80 hPa, est tel que l'échantillon présente un taux de porosité volumique compris entre 3 et 50 %, et de préférence entre 4 et 25 %. Le procédé de fabrication d'une telle masse comporte un traitement de l'alliage à l'état liquide pour y introduire un gaz soluble et non réactif chimiquement, tel que l'hydrogène. L'invention permet d'améliorer les propriétés rhéologiques du métal à l'état semi-solide, ce qui conduit à des pièces de meilleure qualité.
