Description
Process and device for drying lignite and other water-containing substances. The invention relates to a method for drying lignite and other water-containing substances, according to which the material to be dried is itself used as a filter material for a gaseous heating medium before the latter leaves the material to be dried. In accordance with the invention, the material to be dried is continuously supplied and discharged through an interstitial space formed by air-permeable walls through which the heating medium flows and which acts as a pre-dryer. To then feed a main dryer to who it is in countercurrent to the heating medium happens.
Advantageously, an addition of cold air is introduced into the latter at the exit point of the drying goods from the main dryer.
Fig. 1 of the accompanying schematic drawing shows an embodiment of a device for performing this procedural rens, which device in addition to the procedural Ren forms the subject of the present invention, in section.
The wet material passes through a funnel a into a space ra 'formed by two coaxially arranged, air-permeable vertical drums U and c. Of the two drums, either the outer one is stationary and the inner one is rotatable, or both are rotatable in the same or opposite direction, or both are stationary, while the bottom plate is to be thought of as being rotatable.
Heating medium flowing through an opening in the base plate d crosses the intermediate space a 'and causes the wet material to be temporarily dried, with the dust particles being held back by the wet carbon acting as the filter material.
The wet material passes from the pre-dryer into the main dryer, which is formed by two groups of step-shaped double-cone plate surfaces e and f. Dish dryer e, f and filter U, c are placed in a common cylindrical housing g. A sheet metal hood h installed between the plate surfaces e, f effects the guidance of the heating medium inside the main dryer, which is fed through the pipe i.
A free space in is inserted between the actual drying space and a discharge device k for the dried goods. The jacket o of the discharge device 1s is provided with, for example, open-top pockets n which can be closed by slides and which allow air to enter
but prevent the items to be dried from falling out. In the space 7n, the warm dry material which trickles down in free fall is hit by the cold air flow entering through the pockets n.
The surfaces of the main dryer could also be designed to be conical in order to achieve better distribution of the material to be dried in the main dryer (FIG. 2).
