Description

EMI0001.0001

EMI0001.0001
Fig. 1 shows the discharge end of the extrusion machine provided with an annular extrusion die.

Fig. 2 is a section of a variant.

Fig. 3 is a section of another variant. In fig. 1, 1 shows a barrel or cylinder of a conventional screw type extrusion machine.

A tubular rod 2 is mounted on the cylinder and over this rod is fitted a sleeve 3 manufactured with a support 4 for an annular extrusion die 5. The support 4 is carried by a thrust bearing 6 of the type! ball or roller fixed to the base of the machine by a support 7.

A toothed ring 8 is fixed coexially to the die and meshes with an end screw 9 arranged so as to be driven by an electric motor.

During operation of the machine, the die and the support are slowly rotated (for example at two revolutions per minute) by the worm 9. The sleeve 3 rotates with respect to the rod 2 and the resulting thrust -the extrusion pressure is easily absorbed by the bearing 6 and its support.

Thus, the die rotates slowly with respect to the extruded material 10, defects are distributed evenly on the roll in which the material is eventually accumulated and thus a very clean roll is obtained.

In the embodiment of FIG. 2, the die itself is formed to fit the sleeve 3 in a sliding and rotatable manner and the ring gear 8 also carries the thrust bearing 6 which reacts against a frame 7 '.

In the variant of FIG. 3, the sleeve, tubular 2 'is bent at 900 so that the extrusion is obtained perpendicular to the axis of the machine, otherwise the arrangement is similar to that of FIG. 2.

Note that although the rotation of the complete machine with the die is virtually possible only with vertical upward extrusion, the described rotary die easily adapts for extrusion in any. which way.
