Description
The larvae of the longhorn beetle feed mostly deep inside the infected wooden parts. Even if the best insecticidal, especially inorganic pesticides, even if they also have a certain long-range action in the gas or vapor form, can only perform their task reliably and completely if it is possible to get them so deep into the wood that the at least the sapwood of the timber is completely poisoned. Up to now there was no way to do this. The control agents are applied by spraying or brushing. Due to such measures, however, no depth effect could be achieved, especially with the wood of roof structures, which is most often attacked by the house buck and is usually very dry. The penetration depth of the aqueous agents in the hitherto customary house billy control measures was generally about 1 to 1.5 cm. Since the wood destroyer larvae are found up to 4 cm from the surface, naturally these deeper seated animals cannot be killed. Following the development of high-quality new control agents on the basis of alkali hydrogen fluorides and systematic research work carried out for a long time on the question of the penetration of liquids into wood, the inventor succeeded in solving this problem in two ways.
In dem Bestreben, wenn möglich, auch beim Streichen und Spritzen zu einer Steigerung des Eindringerfolges zu kommen, wurden, ausgehend von der Erkenntnis, daß um ein tieferes Eindringen zu erzielen, ein etwaiger zweiter Anstrich unmittelbar nach dem Einziehen der ersten aufgebracht werden muß, unter anderen Versuchsreihen angesetzt bei denenFrom numerous experiments, also carried out with crested buck larvae, it could be seen that at least 100 g to a maximum of 300 g / m (exp) 2 of an effective toxin must be incorporated into the infected dry wooden beams if at least the entire sapwood is poisoned and thus a complete or very high killing success is to be made possible. In an effort, if possible, to increase the penetration success also with painting and spraying, based on the knowledge that in order to achieve deeper penetration, a possible second coat of paint must be applied immediately after the first has been drawn in other series of experiments set up with those

The readily soluble and very well penetrating aqueous solution of a salt mixture of potassium hydrogen fluoride and ammonium hydrogen fluoride, preferably containing 20 g of potassium hydrogen fluoride and 5 g of ammonium hydrogen fluoride, was used for these experiments. The first series of tests with several coats of paint in close succession was carried out in such a way that 1 each was air-dry
Bein anfänglicher Verwendung einer konzentrierten Lösung erhält man die größte Gesamtsalzaufnhame, wie sich aus nachstehender Zusammenstellung ergibt:Tablet was kept moist for 10 minutes with a solution by immediately following painting or spraying. The following coats were applied generously, always immediately after the previous one had soaked into the wood, which lasted 3 - 6 minutes with the salt used. It was found that the wood absorbed by far the largest amount of liquid when it was first applied, on average about 500 g / m (exp) 2; In the following work steps it was only possible to add about 80 g / m (exp) 2 each, that is about one sixth of the initial amount. Since the absorbency of the wood is largely saturated when the liquid is applied for the first time, the first coat of paint is crucial for the salt absorption. When a concentrated solution is used initially, the highest total salt intake is obtained, as can be seen from the following table:

Holzproben: Kiefernsplint-Brettchen 10 cm x 5 cm x 2 cm, Holzfeuchtigkeit 12%.Wood samples: pine sapwood boards 10 cm x 5 cm x 2 cm, wood moisture 12%.
The first application was carried out by keeping it moist for 10 minutes, the following coats immediately after the penetration of the liquid used for the pretreatment.
From the table above it can be seen that if the moisture is kept for 10 minutes with a 5% solution (first application) and then painted twice with a 5% solution each, a salt absorption of 34 g / m (exp) 2 at a penetration depth of 7, 4 mm is reached.
If it is kept moist for 10 minutes with a 20% solution (1st application) and then painted twice with a 20% solution each, a salt absorption of 90 g / m (exp) 2 is achieved at a penetration depth of 7.1 mm.
The second series of experiments revealed that pine sapwood boards (wood moisture about 12%) provided with solution over a longer period of time can increasingly be incorporated with protective salt. A comparison of the visual lines in the diagram shown in the accompanying drawing shows that with regard to the assumed amount of solution, the lowest salt content of the protective agent solution used, 5%, appears to be the most favorable. The uptake of 10% solution remains only slightly, but that of 20% solution remains noticeably. However, if you pay attention to the amount of protective substance introduced, the 20% solution is obviously the most salt added to the wood.
By continuously moisturizing for 40 minutes, about 130 g / m (exp) 2 can be brought into the wood. If so treated bar sections were at 75% rel. Humidity kept for four months and then checked for depth of penetration of the toxins, it was 2 cm. However, if the wood samples were sprayed once with water for six days after the protective agent solutions had been applied, the penetration was so increased that in the case of the test of the control effect of house-goat agents The test carried out killed all parts and 75% of the reaction area with a core content of 14.6% of the control agent had penetrated.
The most perfect solution to the problem described is undoubtedly the use of a protective paste, which has to be justified, because since the osmosis and diffusion processes require a wood moisture of at least 20%, the main area of application of the so-called osmosis process is the treatment of fresh wood, although it has also been pointed out in the literature that enough moist wood can be osmotized.
Apart from the fact that no attempt has ever been made to osmotize the dry wood built into roof structures, for example, the technical progress of the present invention consists in the fact that, for the first time, an excellent penetration success that enables thoroughgoing control of the roe buck infestation is achieved in a practically simple manner .
(vgl.Anlage)Extensive and planned tests have shown that penetration of the entire bar including the core portion can be achieved if 200 to 300 g salt / m (exp) 2 in the form of a paste, consisting of 1 part salt and 0.5 to 0, 75 parts of water of the above agent in conjunction with additions of palmitates, e.g. Aluminum palmitate or stearates, e.g. magnesium and zinc stearate, are applied to dry wood and then sprayed with water every day for 5 weeks the. A considerable simplification and shortening of the process was possible if the wood was pre-moistened with water for 10 minutes before the paste was applied, to which a wetting agent, for example 0.5% of the wetting agent known under the trade name "Nekal", and a dye were added was. The applied paste was carefully sprayed with water twice on the first day and once on the following days for 6 days. (see annex)
It is important not to let the applied paste dry out for as long as possible. For this reason, the specified control measures can be carried out well in the autumn and spring months (November has the highest average humidity in attics), which have so far been used less than summer. In the hot and dry summer months, the generation of high humidity through technical measures in the rooms (e.g. attics) that contain wood that has been treated with pesticides according to the present application for about 10 days should definitely be considered. The increase in humidity can be done by installing air humidifiers, generating water vapor, creating a damp room around the built-in wooden parts, etc.
The successes achieved with the means and methods used according to the invention show that the new proposals far surpass all the best means and methods known to date. The invention thus provides the possibility of not only providing dry, unobstructed wood with depth protection, but also of completely killing the longhorn beetle in buildings in particular also in the case of old, used wood.
With the methods outlined above, it is also possible to adapt to the extent of the infestation, especially the accessibility and the cross-section of the wooden parts, when eliminating house buck damage, by, for example, the supports of the beams in the masonry, beam surfaces directly adjacent to the masonry, junction points, Side sills, frames and the like, larger amounts of salt can be added in order to achieve a special depth effect.
