Abstract

The invention relates to a packaging product based on wood wool, and more precisely described of the type which is used inter alia for packing and filling around objects which are placed in boxes or similar storage and/or transportation packages, and the object of which is to protect the packaged objects against damage caused by knocks and impacts during transportation. The wood wool product contributes to this protection by means of its natural elastic cushioning effect. The packaging product according to the invention is characteristic in containing as its most fundamental component wood wool, which is laminated between two layers of paper in an endless length, most precisely in mat form. The outer layers can also consist of textile- based materials or materials based on synthetic film or film laminate. The packaging mat, which is open along the side edges, is made dust- and cut-resistant by suitable impregnation of the wood wool at least partly along the side edges. Preferably all materials included in the product are of natural origin (wood wool, paper, cardboard, textile etc.), so that after final use the packaging product can form part of a natural cycle in nature, for example by incineration or biological degradation. Disposal of the packaging can therefore be undertaken without risk of environmental pollution. The product thus meets the increased requirements for environmental attributes of packaging products. <IMAGE>
