the invention has for its object to avoid these disadvantages of known emblem attachments and to provide a badge for attaching an emblem shield to an airbag cover, which has a high durability and is easy to manufacture.
a badge for attaching emblem signs to the cover of an airbag for vehicle occupant restraint systems comprises a base carrier, which on its back, i.e. on its side facing the cover in the installed state and facing away from the passenger compartment, has an integrally formed fastening element, with the aid of which the base support is connected to the cover.
the base carrier also has on its front, i.e. on the side facing the passenger compartment, an emblem with the logo of the vehicle manufacturer.
the badge is characterized in that the base area of the emblem sign is larger than the base area of the base support, and that the edge region of the emblem sign protruding beyond the base area of the base support at least partially engages behind the edge of the base support.
the badge according to the invention ensures a high durability over the entire life of the motor vehicle and is easier to manufacture due to the purely mechanical connection of the emblem plate to the basic carrier.

FIG. 2 shows a base support 14 with a fastening element 16 molded onto the back of the base support.

FIG. 4 shows a badge 18 in which the emblem plate 10 has at least one tab 12 provided with a bore 20. When this tab is bent over the edge of the base support 14, the fastening element 16 is guided through the bore 20. This fixes the emblem in addition and prevents it from slipping.
retaining pins 22 are additionally formed on the back of the base support 14, which interact with corresponding bores 24 in the edge region of the emblem shield or the tabs 12 arranged in this region. When the edge region or the tabs 12 are bent over, the holding pins 22 engage in the bores 24 and thus additionally fix the emblem plate 10.
the base carrier is provided on its rear side with depressions 26 which receive the tabs 12 which surround the outer edge of the base carrier 14.
the depressions can advantageously be provided in their edge area with latching elements 28 which enable the tabs 12 to be caulked and thus prevent the tabs from being unintentionally bent open.
retaining pins 30 arranged in pairs are provided on the back of the base support 14.
the tabs 12 are widened at their outer end and are hung between the holding pins 30. The widening at the outer end of the tabs 12 prevents the tabs from slipping out and thus ensures additional anchoring.
