Abstract
Arboles transgénicos caracterizados por tener mayor crecimiento vegetativo. La presente invención describe un método para la generación de árboles transgénicos, consistente en la construcción de un gen quimérico, que transferido al genoma de chopos híbridos (Populus tremula x P. alba) permite la sobreexpresión de un gen de glutamina sintetasa de pino en el citoplasma celular. Los árboles obtenidos por este método se caracterizan por tener mayor contenido en proteína y clorofila en las hojas y mayor crecimiento vegetativo, tanto en altura como en el número de hojas, que los árboles no transformados.
