Abstract

A method of manufacturing martensitic steel, comprising the steps of forming a martensitic steel melt containing from 10 to 16% nickel; from 6 to 12% molybdenum, the sum of the contents of nickel and molybdenum being not greater than 27%; carbon in amount of up to 0.1%; 0.1% titanium; from 0 to 1% aluminum; from 0 to 0.25% manganese; from 0 to 0.25% silicon; from or to 2% of niobium; from 0 to 4% of tantalum; from 0 to 0.1% boron; from 0 to 0.25% zirconium; from 0 to 2% vanadium; from 0 to 0.1% calcium; from 0 to 1% beryllium; from 0 to 4% copper, not being more than 10% the sum of the contents of niobium, tantalum, boron zirconium, vanadium, calcium, beryllium and copper; from 0 to 5% chromium; and from 0 to 1% cobalt; the rest being iron, apart from the impurities; and convert the molten steel into a configured product.
