Abstract

A hub 13 is moved relative to a shaft 10 by supplying pressure liquid to an annular piston 18 positioned in a ring 15 which abuts an axially fixed, detachable member 25. The force fit between a ship's propeller hub 13 and the shaft 10 is broken by first removing screws (30), (Fig. 1, not shown), repositioning the ring 15 to the position shown in Fig. 3 and introducing pressure liquid to a tyre 19 to cause the piston 18 to move a plate 32 and the connected hub 13 to the right.
