Abstract
l-Glycosyl-5-azacytosines of the general formula wherein R1 is a glycosyl residue, R2 is a hydrogen. atom or an alkyl group and R3 and R4 are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aralkyl group, are prepared by trimethylsilylizing a 5-azacytosine of the general formula treating the resulting trimethylsilyl or bis(trimethylsilyl) derivative with a per-acylglycosyi halide and subjecting the resulting 1-(peracylglycosyl)-5-azacytosine of the general formula wherein R5 is a per-acylglycosyl residue, to alcoholysis or ammonolysis.
