Abstract
The naphthacene deriv. of formula (I) and its acid-addn. salts are new: (I) has antitumour activity against solid and ascitic tumours and is esp. useful for the treatment of human carcinoma. (I) can be prepd. e.g. by microbiological redn. of carminomycin with a culture (or cells or enzymatic extracts isolated therefrom) of Strept. lavendulae ATCC 8664, STrept. roseochromogenes ATCC 13400, Corynebact. simplex ATCC 6946 or Bacterium cyclooxydans ATCC 12673.
