Abstract
Electric iron comprises a cable guide which can be pivoted about a shaft extending parallel to the sole plate in the centre plane of the sole plate and mounted at the rear end of the handle and which can be locked in the outermost pivot positions. The handle is pref. hollow at its rear end, and the lower part of the cable guide is covered by parts of the handle. The cable is thus prevented from affecting movement of the iron, regardless of whether the user is left- or right-handed and whether the plug on the end of the cable has to be plugged into the left or right of the ironing zone. In an example, the lower part of the cable extending into the handle cavity is connected to the current supply terminals of the sole-plate, and the upper part is connected to the plug.
