Abstract

A light amphibious vehicle has a double skinned hull (1) without any openings through the two stains for the wheels or drive unit. Two front wheels (7, 8) are supported by a platform member (11) across the top, and a rear wheel (17) outside the hull is driven by an outboard motor (15) and gearbox (16). This rear wheel which acts as the drive wheel on land, and as a propeller on water, has spokes (19) which act also as propeller blades. For travel on water, it is necessary only to pull the control arm (18) sideways so as to swing the outboard motor, and hence the drive wheel/propeller, through a right angle, ready for immediate operation.
