Abstract
The movable wall of a machine for the continuous casting of metals onto one or between two such walls is formed basically of a good heat-conducting metal 1 providing a base and carries, distributed on its surface, excrescences 4 of the said base metal that conducts heat well, and, between these excrescences, intermediate zones 5 consisting of an added metal whose heat conductivity is less than that of the said metal of the base. To form this wall, the surface of the metal forming the base is given a predetermined relief, there is deposited on this surface a layer of the metal forming the intermediate zones to a thickness greater than the height of the said relief, and the coating thus formed is machined down until the peaks of the said relief appear. The invention applies in particular to the walls of cylinders for continuous casting between two cylinders or onto one cylinder. <IMAGE>
