Abstract

Stable poly(oxy-methylene)-glycol solns. prepn comprises 1-40 wt.% of cpds. of formula (1) and/or (II) are added to an aq. soln. of formaldehyde. (%-s calculated on formaldehyde concn.) The ppte. formed is filtered. Conversely 1-40 wt.% of a cpd. of general formula (I) is added to an 5-50 wt.% aq. formaldehyde soln. at pH 2.5-3.5 and the mixt. cooled to (-5) to (-25) deg. C, filtered and a freshly prepd. 1-10 wt.% aq. formaldehyde soln. is added to the filtrate at (-)10 to (-)20 deg. C temp., so that the temp. should remain permanently below 20 deg. C. The ppte. is filtered and 1-10 wt.% of cpd. (II) is added to the filtrate (% based on filtrate.
