Abstract
1,257,205. Heterocyclic colour-formers. FUJI PHOTO FILM CO. Ltd. 14 July, 1969 [15 July, 1968], No. 35369/69. Heading C4P. [Also in Division D2] A dye precursor (used in colour-reactive copying sheets, see Division D2) is prepared by the route In this formula, R 1 and R 2 are each an alkyl group of up to fivecarbon atoms or a benzyl group, and X 1 , X 2 , X 3 and X 4 are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom an alkoxy group or a. methyl group. In: the examples, the two. starting materials are dissolved in sulphuricacid and reacted at 90‹ C. for 3 hours. After cooling, the mixtureis poured' into icewater and theprecipitate filtered off and extracted with chloroform while being neutralized with aqueous caustic soda. The chloroform solution is washed with water, and condensed under reduced pressure; The product is recrystallized from a mixture of benzene and ligroin, or from acetone.
