Abstract
Description
本発明のポリマー系熱吸収材料は、高吸水性ポリマー(SAP)を含む。SAPは、吸水性材料であり、それらの重量の約40〜約400倍の水を吸収できる。高吸水性ポリマーは、線状ポリマーの反応混合物に、線状分子間に2次元および/または3次元の結合を形成する架橋剤を添加することによって製造される。この架橋作用は、線状分子を不動態化するためである。それらの水に対する親和力は低下しないが、ここで水は架橋構造内に吸収されなければならない。ポリマー自体は実質的に燃焼を防止または消火せず、むしろ、そうでなければ燃焼表面から蒸発または流出する(その場合いずれも火災防止が無効化される)捕捉された水を隔離および不動態化する。

Claims (30)
- 熱活性材料(14)を輸送するために構成された輸送コンテナ(10)であって、前記輸送コンテナ(10)が、
前記熱活性材料(14)を受容するために構成されたコンテナ内部(18)および前記輸送コンテナが配置される環境に隣接して配設される外部を規定する複数の構造パネル(16)、
前記熱活性材料(14)と前記コンテナ(10)が配置される環境(E)との間の配置のための熱バリア部材(24)であって、前記熱バリア(24)が、熱吸収材料受容空隙(34)を規定する熱バリア内部パネル(28)および熱バリア外部パネル(32)を含む熱バリア部材、および
前記熱吸収材料受容空隙(34)内に配設された流動性ポリマー系熱吸収材料を含み、ここで前記熱バリア(24)が、前記熱活性材料(14)と、前記輸送コンテナ(100)が配置される前記環境(E)との間の熱エネルギーの移動を低減するために前記熱活性材料(14)を実質的に囲むように構成される、輸送コンテナ。 - 前記熱活性材料(14)によって生じた圧力を大気に放出可能にするための圧力除去部材(142)をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の輸送コンテナ。
- 前記圧力除去部材(142)が、圧力除去バルブ(142)およびガスがそれを通って過圧状態で通過できる前記熱バリア部材(24)中のギャップのうち少なくとも1つを含む、請求項2に記載の輸送コンテナ。

- 前記熱吸収材料受容空隙(34)にわたってほぼ一貫して分散された前記流動性ポリマー系熱吸収材料を維持するために、前記パーティション部材(38)が、前記熱吸収材料受容空隙(34)全体のほぼすべてにわたって延びる、請求項4に記載の輸送コンテナ。
- 前記パーティション部材(38)が、実質的に前記熱吸収材料受容空隙(34)全体内に配設されたハニカムセル(80)構造を含み、前記ハニカムセル構造のパーティション部材(38)が、前記熱吸収材料受容空隙(34)にわたって前記ポリマー系熱吸収材料(36)をほぼ均一に分散するために前記セル(80)内に前記流動性ポリマー系熱吸収材料(36)を受容するために構成される、請求項5に記載の輸送コンテナ。
- 前記構造パネル(16)が、ベースパネル部材(54)、前記ベースパネル部材(54)に結合された少なくとも1つの第1の側部パネル部材(46、48、50、52)、および開放位置と閉鎖位置との間で可動性の頂部パネル部材(58)を含み、前記ベースパネル部材(54)、少なくとも1つの第1の側部パネル部材(46、48、50、52)および頂部パネル部材(58)のそれぞれが、内部表面(27)を含む、請求項1に記載の輸送コンテナ。
- 前記熱バリア部材(24)が、前記ベースパネル部材の内部表面に隣接して配設されたベース熱バリアパネル(36)を含む複数の熱バリアパネル、前記少なくとも1つの側部パネル部材(48)の内部表面に隣接して配設された少なくとも1つの側部熱バリアパネル、および前記頂部パネル部材(58)の内部表面に隣接して配設された頂部熱バリアパネル(29)を含み、前記複数の熱バリアパネルが、前記熱バリアパネルにわたって、および前記熱バリアパネルの外部への熱の移動を低減するために前記複数の熱バリアパネル(29、36)によって実質的に囲まれた熱活性材料含有空間(18)を規定するために構成される、請求項7に記載の輸送コンテナ。
- 前記熱活性材料(14)が、燃え続けることができる可燃性材料であって、前記可燃性材料(14)の温度が燃焼閾値を超える場合に、発火できる可燃性材料を含み、前記熱バリア部材(24)が、前記輸送コンテナ(100)が、前記熱バリア部材(24)の内部に配設された可燃性材料が燃え続けている間に燃焼閾値未満の温度に配置される環境(E)を維持するために十分な熱バリアを提供する、請求項1に記載の輸送コンテナ。
- 前記可燃性材料は、リチウムバッテリ(14)を含み、前記熱バリア部材(24)が、前記輸送コンテナが前記熱バリア部材(24)の内部に配設された前記リチウムバッテリ(14)が燃え続けている間に約950°F未満で配置される環境(E)を維持するために十分な熱バリアを提供する、請求項9に記載の輸送コンテナ。
- 前記熱活性材料が、リチウムバッテリ(14)を含み、ここで前記熱バリア部材(24)が、前記輸送コンテナ(100)が、前記熱バリアを内部に有する前記コンテナ(100)内に配設された前記リチウムバッテリ(14)が燃え続けている間に約950°F未満で配設される環境(E)を維持できる、請求項1に記載の輸送コンテナ。
- 前記リチウムバッテリ(14)が、リチウムバッテリおよびリチウムイオンバッテリの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1に記載の輸送コンテナ。
- 前記ポリマー系熱吸収材料が、高吸水性ポリマーを含む、請求項1に記載の輸送コンテナ。
