Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain inexpensive and readily knittable cotton yarn, excellent in flexibility, capable of providing hardly slipping gloves, having a high breaking strength and excellent in absorptivity of sweat, etc., and useful for safety protectors by wrapping cotton yarns around a core wire consisting of a stainless steel wire and cotton yarns applied parallel thereto. CONSTITUTION:The objective cotton yarn obtained by wrapping cotton yarns 4 and 5 around a core wire 6 consisting of a stainless steel wire 1 and one or more cotton yarns 2 and 3 applied thereto side by side. Furthermore, hot-melt yarns may be used in place of the cotton yarns applied parallel to the stainless steel wire.

Various organic fibers such as nylon, polyester, carbon fiber, and aromatic polyamide fiber have been known as fibers exhibiting high strength. In particular, the aromatic polyamide fiber Kevlar (registered trademark of DuPont, USA) is widely known as a lightweight, high-strength fiber that has high strength, low elasticity, high modulus, heat resistance, and electrical insulation properties.

By the way, although the Kevlar mentioned above has high strength, (1) it is difficult to absorb sweat and oil, (2) it is expensive, (3) it is slippery, (4) it lacks insulation, (5) it generates static electricity, etc. It has the following disadvantages. In addition, Kevlar with stainless steel wire has the disadvantages of Kevlar described in Section 2 (1) to (4), as well as the fact that the stainless steel wire is coated with cotton-like Kevlar or glue, so it becomes hard when made into cloth. For this reason, for example, if the above-mentioned Kevlar or Kevlar with stainless steel wire is applied to work gloves, it will lack safety and comfort due to the above-mentioned drawbacks such as being slippery, difficult to absorb sweat, and becoming hard. In addition, since the cost of materials increases, the price of the product also increases.

The stainless steel wire-containing cotton thread constructed as described above is highly flexible because the cotton thread is wound around the core wire with cotton thread or heat-melted thread attached parallel to the stainless steel wire, and it is also easy to wrap around the core cotton thread, etc. Due to the friction between the cotton threads, misalignment between them does not easily occur. In addition, gloves, arm covers, gaiters, etc. using the cotton yarn with stainless steel wires are easy to knit because there is no misalignment between the core wire and the cotton yarn, and the cotton yarn with stainless steel wires is soft, making it a flexible fabric. It absorbs oil and oil well, and it is hard to tear because it contains stainless steel wire.

The figure shows an embodiment of the stainless steel wire-containing cotton yarn according to the present invention. In the figure, a core wire 6 is a stainless steel wire 1 with two cotton threads 2 and 3 attached parallel to it, and a 4°5 cotton thread is wound around this core wire 6 to form a single fiber. It is something. By including the cotton threads 2 and 3 in the core wire 6, winding is possible between the cotton threads 4 and 5 of the core wire and the cotton threads 2 and 3 of the core wire.
Friction is generated between the stainless steel wire 3 and the core wire 6, thereby forming a stainless steel wire-containing cotton thread that is tightly wound around the core wire 6 and prevents the cotton threads 4 and 5 from easily being displaced from the stainless steel wire 1 and coming off. Further, when the cotton threads 2 to 5 and the stainless steel wire 1 are not glued, they have particularly excellent flexibility.

In addition, if you apply a small amount of adhesive to the stainless steel wire 1 in advance and attach the cotton thread 2.3 to it, the cotton thread will adhere to the stainless steel wire and the core wire will be handled like a single wire. This makes winding the cotton thread 4.5 easier. The stainless steel wire-containing cotton yarn formed in this way also has the same function as the one described above, and its flexibility is not significantly impaired.

Alternatively, a heat-melting thread may be added in place of the cotton thread 2.3, and the above adhesive may be applied in this state or after winding the cotton thread 4.5 and semi-melting it by subjecting it to a predetermined heat treatment. You can obtain something that has the same functionality as cotton thread with stainless steel wire. In this case as well, winding the cotton thread 4.5 becomes easier.

Next, to give an example where the above-mentioned stainless steel wire-containing cotton yarn is suitable, for example, when carrying thin iron plates, glass plates, etc. by hand, or when mowing grass, lacerations on the hands, arms, and legs may occur. There are safety equipment such as gloves, arm covers, or gaiters to protect you from getting exposed. Stainless steel is a high-strength fiber with particularly excellent cutting strength, and the cotton thread with stainless steel wire has excellent water absorption, insulation, and heat insulation properties, so it can be easily applied to the safety protective equipment mentioned above. The fabric is not cut, sweat and oil are well absorbed, and work can be done safely, comfortably and efficiently.

It is a fiber that can prevent this from occurring, and also takes advantage of the softness of cotton thread and the high strength of stainless steel wire. In particular, if the above-mentioned stainless steel wire-containing cotton thread fiber is applied to safety protective equipment such as gloves, arm covers, gaiters, etc., it will be safe because it will prevent slipping and has very high cutting strength, and it will also be comfortable because it absorbs sweat well. This results in good workability. Furthermore, since the costs of materials such as stainless steel wire and cotton thread are not high, products can be provided at low prices.
