A swivel arm that is rotatable integrally with a rotating shaft that projects upright on the machine base, and a support shaft that is movable up and down on the machine base and is positioned concentrically with respect to the rotating shaft. A clamp rail is provided on the processing table and located on the same circumference as the support rail at the standby position of the processing table, and the engaging portions provided on the pallet placed on each of these rails are the same. Relative upward or downward movement of the rail and the swing arm causes the pallets to engage respective engaging portions provided at each end of the swing arm, and the swing arm is rotated to mutually change the position of each pallet. The pallet exchange device employs an electric motor as a drive source for the rotating shaft and the supporting shaft, and connects the motor and the rotating shaft with a first converting means that converts the rotation of the motor into horizontal rotational motion. A pallet exchange device characterized in that the motor and the support shaft are connected by a second conversion means that converts the rotation of the motor into vertical linear motion.
