Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of the operation of a nuclear reactor by calculating the residual life of the maximum permissible power of a nuclear reactor fuel element from the degree of burn-up of the fuel and quantitatively and accurately prenotifying the maximum permissible power changing time of the fuel element to an operator.
CONSTITUTION: A neutron flux measuring instrument 22 is installed within a nuclear reactor 20 to periodically feed a signal to a computer 24. The computer 24 periodically or as requested by an operator calculates all the fuel element powers in the reactor core and also calculates the degree of burn-up. A memory 26 stores the degree of burn-up prepared from the fuel element maximum permissible power among the degrees of burn-up calculated and the life. A compuer 28 calculates periodically or as requested by the operator the present degree of burn-up from the computer 24 and the residual life of the fuel element from the storage of the memory 26, and displys them on a display unit 30. Thus, the opertor can prenotify the fuel element changing time used at present so as to thereby efficiently operate the nuclear reactor.
