Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover aluminium sulfate by the procedure in which a part of waste water containing aluminium sulfate discharged from electrolytic bath is concentrated to crystallize aluminium sulfate and then the gelled aluminum sulfate sludge is reacted with the waste water.
CONSTITUTION: A part of electrolytic waste water sent from the electrolytic bath 12 to the waste acid tank 13 is supplied to the evaporation-concentration apparatus 14 to concentrate the waste water, and then supplied to the vaccum crystallizer 15 to crystallize aluminium sulfate. The aluminium sulfate so obtained is filtered by the separator 16 to recover filterate as recovered sulfuric acid which is in turn sent to the supplementary liquid tank 11 where its concentration is readjusted and the liquid is supplied to the electrolytic bath 12. On the other hand, the filter cake is sent to the filter cake tank 17, where it is mixed with the remainder of the electrolytic waste water and then supplied to the aluminium sulfate manufacturing apparatus 18. Then, it is mixed with gelled aluminium sulfate sludge from the scum storage tank 19 and then subjected to a heat reaction to form aluminium sulfate. Thus, this method greately cuts down on the procurement cost of crystalline alumininm sulfate and also obviates the needs for excess apparatus
