Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the resistance at the time of insertion by spreading the ends of a contact spring of a male connector with a wedge shaped protrsiton provided at the bottom of a female connector for the contact between the contact spring and the contact post.
CONSTITUTION: A female connector part having contact posts is provided with a wedge shaped protrusion 4 at the bottom of its housing 3 while a male connector part connected to a printed circuit board is provided with an arc shaped contact springs 7 via a connector block 8. The force required at the time of insertion is zero as the distance W between the contact posts 2 is larger than the height H of the contact springs. Further insertion of the male connector parts engages the lower end of the contact springs 7 with the wedge shaped protrusion 4 whereby the contact springs 7 are spread to touch the contact posts 2 enabling the insertion of the male connector part with minimum required force.
