Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance crystal growth and to facilitate separation from mother liquor by crystallizing dibasic Ca(OCl)2 in the presence of carboxylic acid (salt), such as succinic acid or maleic acid, or carbohydrate, such as glucose, as auxiliary crystallization agent.
CONSTITUTION: Crystallization of Ca(OCl)2 is performed at 10W60°C, preferably at 20W40°C in the presence of normally 2% or less of carboxylic acid (salt), such as succinic acid or maleic acid, or carbohydrate such as glucose, galactose, or cane sugar, as auxiliary crystallization agent. The title product obtained by this process is crystals with well-grown c-axis, has a high mechanical strength as compared with conventional flat hexagonal plate crystal, and therefore is hard to crush. There is little mixing of the auxiliary crystallization agent. Also, NaCl and CaCl2, although highly concentrated, are little mixed into the crystal product. Moreover, after long periods of storage, decomposition of effective chlorine is only a very little, offering excellent storage stability.
