Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a rolling mill oil having excellent friction coefficient and pressure resistance under high pressure and high speed rolling, composed of an ester obtained by reacting hydrogenated castor oil with a specific fatty acid.
CONSTITUTION: A rolling mill oil composed of an ester obtained by reacting (A) a hydrogenated caster oil or an addition product of a hydrogenated castor oil and an alkylene oxide, with (B) a 4W24C fatty acid such as lauric acid, stearic acid, etc. The reaction is pref. carried out at 100W200°C using 0.5W3mol of the component (B) based on 1mol of the component (A). The ester thus obtained has an acid value of pref. 0.5W50.
EFFECT: Addition of 1W90% of the oil to other lubricating oil considerably improves the properties of the lubricating oil.
