Abstract

PURPOSE:To smoothly inset a gear-shaped work into the chuck without stopping a rotating motion of the chuck, by rotating said work at a speed of rotation slightly lower than that of the main spindle. CONSTITUTION:A loading arm 21 is provided between a regular loading position 24 and processing position of the work swivellably and slidably in a direction of the swiveling spindle, and at the distal end of this arm 21, a collet chuck 40 is provided. A chuck 50, having a centering jig 52 engaged with a tooth groove 25a of a work 25, is further provided. Piston rods 38, 48, synchronously rotatable with this chuck 50 and slidable beyond the chuck surface along the shaft offset from the collet chuck 40 spindle core, are provided. When loading, making the contact under a condition that centers of the piston rods 38, 48 and the work 25 are not coaxial, a speed of rotation slightly lower than that of a main spindle 44 is applied to the work. In this way, a coincidence between the centering jig 52 of the chuck and the tooth groove of the work 25 can insert the work into the chuck.
