Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable mechanical parts, etc. of superior dimensional accuracy, weight accuracy and mechanical properties to be produced inexpensively and highly efficiently by sintering the green compact formed of cast iron powder as its main material and hot forging the same.
CONSTITUTION: Metal powder such as of Cu, Al, Ti, Ni, Cr, Mn, etc., if needed, and lubricant such as metal soap, etc. are added and mixed to cast iron powder. This raw material powder is filled in dies and pressure molded with a press machine. The resultant green compact is sintered in a reducing atmosphere such as of hydrogen, ammonia, etc. (usually 1000 to 1500°C, 10 to 45 minutes). This sintered molding in a high temperature state immediately after heating or fintering is put in dies and is hot forged. This is then subjected to machining, hardening or tempering, if necessary.
