Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a fluorescent lamp capable of indicating the end of its life by forming a color fluorescent layer at the ends of the glass tube and providing an ultraviolet ray shelter between the layer and the tube inside insertions.
CONSTITUTION: The inner surface of a glass tube 1 is coated in the end portions with a color fluorescent material such as barium aluminate, magnesium aluminate and yttrium oxide and in the remaining portion with a common white fluorescent material 2 such as calcium holophosphorate. An ultraviolet ray shelter 10 such as an ultraviolet absorptive glass is fixed between the color fluorescent material 3 and tube inside insertions 4. An ultraviolet ray sheltering cylinder 11 may be disposed inside of the color fluorescent layer 3. The shelter 10, 11 deteriorates as the lamp is used for a long time and finally allows the ultraviolet rays to pass therethrough when the life end of the lamp approaches. Thus the lamp can indicate the end of its service life with the color luminescence.
