Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-efficiency predictive encoding circuit with which the predictive distance of predicted value X' is shortened to the sample value X and the coincided secondary carrier phase.
CONSTITUTION: The color TV signals sent through terminal 1 are converted into the digital signals through A/D converter 2. And the sampling frequency is selected to the integer-fold value of the secondary carrier frequency of the input signal given from pulse generator 3. Output X of converter 2 is quantized through quantizer 6 after subtraction of predicted value X' of predicting circuit 7. Quantization signal X-X'+q containing error q is added with value X' to be applied to circuit 7 in the form of local demodulation signal X" as well as converted into the code the redundancy of which is deleted through code converter 8 and then to be sent out via output terminal 10.
