Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce high frequency noise by dividing a muffling chamber of a cylinder head with a sintered metal member in such a manner as to form a resonation space.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust side muffling chamber 15 and an intake side muffling chamber 16 of a cylinder head 17 are divided by respective sintered aluminum plates 18. With this arrangement, noise at around 2,000 Hz produced from an exhaust valve 12 and an intake valve 13 opened and closed with reciprocation of a piston 11 of a compressor element 2 is extremely reduced by the combined effect of the sound absorbing action of the sintered aluminum plates 18 themselves and muffling action of a resonating space defined by each sintered aluminum plate 18, so that it is possible to prevent squeaky sound offensive to the ear.
