Abstract

PURPOSE: To make autotransformers available in smaller size and lighter weight for transportation by enclosing a group of series winding and low-tension winding unit and another group of shunt winding and low-tension winding unit in separate tanks.
CONSTITUTION: A series winding 1 wound round a core 41 and a low-tension winding unit 31 are enclosed in a tank 51; a shunt winding 2 wound round a core 42 and a low-tension winding unit 32 are enclosed in a tank 52. The low-tension winding units 31, 32 are introduced into an oil duct or connected in parallel in the air; the series winding 1 and the shunt winding 2 are connected in series through the oil duct coupling both tanks. A necessary insulation distance between windings or winding and earthilg electrode remains unchanged irrespective of the capacity, therefore in case the winding itself gets large, necessary core is adjusted to cope with the size between tank walls from decreasing number of turns. The tank width can be kept smaller accordingly. A method for division according to this constitution is therefore preferable to the conventional way of simply dividing the winding capacity into two in securing smaller size and lighter weight, thereby magnifying the scope of limitation for transportation.
