Abstract
PURPOSE: To form the surface protective coat to be strong and hydrophilic, by applying to the wood surface the paint composed of a compound possessing the spiroacetal ring and NH2 group or COOH group at the end, and the glycidyl ester of unsaturated carboxylic acid.
CONSTITUTION: The compound possessing the spiroacetal ring and NH2 group or COOH group at the end (formulas I, II, for example) and the glycidyl ester of unsaturated carboxylic acid (formula III for example) are blended together with at molar ratio 1:3W6. Thus prepared paint is applied to surface of the wood, and the point film is heated to temperatures above ordinary temperature under 100°C. The protective coat obtained by this method is softer than the protective coat obtained by applying the paint composed of aminoalkyd resin or urethane resin to the natural wood, and moreover possesses a strong affinity for water and hardly generates cracks.
