Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title composition of high flexibility and water, alkali, and corrosion resistance, by incorporating a composite made up of silica and an organic polymer resin with oxyacid (salt)(s) of specific metal(s).
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) an inorganic/organic composite prepared by the reaction of a mixture of (a) 5W 95wt%(solid component) of a water-dispersible silica having a particle size of 7W 100mμ and (b) 95W5wt% (solid component) of an aqueous solution or water dispersion of an organic polymer resin having an alcoholic hydroxyl equivalent ≥200, e.g., an alkyd resin, epoxy resin with (C) 0.5W15wt% based on the weight of said mixture, of a silane compound such as divinyl dimethoxysilane or an organotitanium compound at a temperature ≥50°C and below the boiling point for 0.5W5hrs with (B) ≤5wt%, based on the weight of said composite, of oxyacid (salt)(s) of metal(s) selected from Mo, W, V, Sn, B, and Si.
