Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to detect the condition of ink injection instantaneously and accurately for an ink jet printing equpment by arranging a detection probe into the ink column before the ink injected from a nozzle separates into drops. CONSTITUTION:Ink is injected under the pressure from a nozzle while the nozzle is being vibrated with a vibrator thereby forming ink drops. Then, the ink drops are deflected according to the printing signal to effect a printing on the recording medium. In an apparatus of such a type, in an attempt to detect the condition of ink injection, a detection probe mounted inside a tube 4 is set at the very tip of the ink column 7. Thus, a series electric circuit comprising an ink jet head 1, the ink column 7 and the detection probe 6 is formed. Based on changes in the impedance of the electric circuit, the condition of ink injection is instantaneously detected with an impedance measuring device.
