Abstract

PURPOSE: To prolong overlapping time of air exhaustion and air scavenging at high- speed operation and to improve air-filling efficiency, by linking operation of a cam shaft gear of a 2-cycle engine to a crank shaft gear through a phase-difference control pulley whose phase shifts by centrifugal force.
CONSTITUTION: A cam shaft gear 4 to be provided on the top of a cylinder block 10 drives scavenging valve 25. This gear 4 is linked to a crank shaft gear 3 through a timing belt 9. In this belt 9, a tensioner pulley 5 and a phase-difference control pulley 6, which are to be arranged in positions opposite each other, are engaged with each other. Between these pulleys 5 and 6, tensioner springs 82 and 83 are arranged through shifting members 84 and 85. And the phase-difference control pulley 6 presses the member 85 with increase of revolution (or r.p.m.). And therefore, distance between the pulleys 5 and 6 stretches, and the phase for the cam shaft gear 4 to open and close the scavenging valve 25 becomes longer.
