Abstract

PURPOSE: Fibers or products therefrom are treated with a hydrophilic resin of block or graft copolymer containing ionic hydrophilic groups, thus having waterproof as well as breathable properties.
CONSTITUTION: Fibers or products therefrom as cotton tricot fabric 1 is treated with a hydrophilic resin 2 consisting of block copolymer and/or graft copolymer having the bonds of (hand segment)-(ionically hydrophilic group-containing hydrophilic segment)-(hand segment) in the structure. For example, the hydrophilic resin is obtained by reaction of ionic groups of carboxyl or sulfonic onto polystyrene- polybutadiene-polystyrene block copolymer.
EFFECT: When the treated product is wetted with water, the resin swells to become waterproof and when dried, it shrinks to restore the breathability.
