CONSTITUTION:A mixing ratio of converter gas is obtained from a ratio of CO concentration in the converter gas detected by means of a converter gas CO meter 50 to CO concentration in mixed gas detected by means of a mixed gas CO meter 52, the theoretical quantity of air of the mixed gas is gained from the mixing ratio and the output of the mixed gas CO meter 52, and the quantity is used as the input of a multiplier 34, thus feeding the quantity forward to a combustion furnace control system. The density of the converter gas acquired from the output of the converter gas CO meter 50, the density of other fuel gas beforehand afforded, and the density of the mixed gas from the mixing ratio of the converter gas are computed by means of a computing element 60, and also fed forward toa function generator 28. Thus, the air fuel ratio of a combustion furnace 18 can positively be controlled regardless of the variation of the calorific power of the converter gas.
