Abstract

PURPOSE: To make proper exhaust gas recirculation be setting target recirculation ratio corresponding to the engine speed and load condition and matching the present recirculation ratio to such target recirculation ratio through a feed-back control.
CONSTITUTION: A control unit receives signals from a sensor 15 which detect the amount of the suction air, sensor 17 which detects the opening of a throttle valve 14, a sensor 18 which detects the engine revolution and a sensor 19 which detects the suction air pressure, and determines the target exhaust gas recircualtion ratio suitable for the running. Its output signal is sent to a driving mechanism 231 of an EGR amount control system 23 provided on an exhaust gas recirculation passage 21b which connects a suction pipe 13 and exhaust pipe 12 to adjust the amount of such drive to match the target recirculation ratio.
