Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a small size and high performance of a primary radiator which transmits and receives the circular polarized wave signals, by providing the mode converting ring at the front end of the rectangular waveguide, providing the polarized wave converter at the front step of the converting ring and furthermore providing the matching ring at the front step of the converter respectively. CONSTITUTION:The signal of the TE10 mode, i.e. the linear deflected signal is transmitted to feeding rectangular waveguide 1, and the propagation mode of the signal is converted into TE11 via mode converting ring 2 having a length of about 1/4 wavelength. Then the linear polarized wave signal is converted into the circular polarized wave signal by polarized wave converter 4 having inside dielectric substance 6 which causes a phase difference of pi/2 between the two orthogonal components of the signal to be then radiated into the air via matching ring 7 having a length of about 1/4 wavelength. The adverse procedure is applied in the case of the reception of the polarized wave signals. Accordingly, the whole length of the radiation is reduced to realize a small size for the radiator. Furthermore, the occurrence of the undesired mode can be reduced to increase the converting efficiency.
