Abstract
PURPOSE: To avoid the break or the sag of the tape when the tape running is stopped, by giving the tape tension control even after the tape is converted to the stop mode from the run mode and then stopping the tape with application of the brake.
CONSTITUTION: When the quick traversing mode is changed to the stop mode, the tape continues running by the inertia but the base voltage of control transistor TR20T is lowered. On the other hand, for reel motor MT of the take-up side, the emitter of TR20T produces the reverse electromotive voltage to turn to the positive high voltage since take-up reel 1T has the high-speed rotation by the inertia. As a result, the take-up torque of motor MT is lowered, and thus the tape tension is reduced. This tension reduction is detected by the tension arm, and the resistance value of variable resistor VRS increases. Then the back tension torque of reel motor MS increases to maintain the tension at the fixed level. At the same time, for motor MS, the emitter of TR20T produces the reverse electromotive voltage to turn to the negative voltage. Thus the smooth conduction is secured for TR20T. Then the tape is given the stop mode while keeping the fixed tension.
