Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the antifogging of a substrate for a long period with low energy consumption, by electrolyzing the moisture to gases by the electrical field applied between a pair of comb-shaped electrical conductive films formed to the surface of the substrate by micro-patterning process with means for applying the electrical field between adjacent electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of comb-shpaed electrical conductive films (pref. oxides of indium, tin and/or titanium, or a semitransparent metallic film) are formed to the surface of a substrate by micro-patterning precess (pref. photo-etching process with a width of electrode of ≤100μ). An electrical field (pref. ≥1.20V) is applied between the adjacent electrodes to effect the eletrolysis of a slight amount of moisture to gas thereby preventing the fogging of the substrate. The process is useful for the antifogging of instantaneously light-controlling electronic sunglasses containing electrochromic material or liquid crystal as the light-controlling material. In this case, the electrical source of the sunglasses is pref. common to the external electrical source.
EFFECT: The device can be electrified with solar cells, which is extremely convenient for the practical purpose.
