Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the discharge characteristics of a battery by providing a ring projection on a periphery of a molded positive compound, inserting it so that the projection touches on the bottom of a positive container, and crushing it on sealing. CONSTITUTION:Manganese dioxide and scaly graphite are compounded as a positive active material and conductive agent respectively, and a positive compound 3 with a ring projection 4 is formed. Then an alkaline electrolyte is poured on the bottom 7 of a positive container 6, and the positive compound 3 is inserted so as to touch on the bottom 7 of the positive container 6 at the projection 4. A negative terminal plate 12 in which a negative compound 11 is placed is engaged on the opening of the positive container 6 spaced with a gasket 13 of nylon with an L- shaped cross section, and the opening edge of the positive container 6 is folded inward to seal. Thus the projection 4 of the molded positive compound 3 is crushed with sealing pressure.
